This is a perfect gift for a newborn
I make my rag quilts with designer fabrics on top, a layer of batting or flannel sandwiched in between and a solid cotton on the back. 
All edges have been cut and frayed, washed and dried to give it a nice soft, cozy feel. COMPLETELY MACHINE WASHABLE.
